BCCI Annual General Meeting in Bengaluru on September 29 | What’s on the agenda?

New Delhi: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is slated for September 29 in Bengaluru. The state associations were informed about the meeting on Thursday (September 5) via notices. The 93rd AGM of the Indian Cricket Board will be conducted at the Four Seasons Hotel in Bengaluru. The all-important meeting will coincide with the unveiling of the High-Performance Centre in the city.

It was earlier believed that the AGM had been called to elect the new board secretary, but according to a report in Cricbuzz, the secretary election is not on the agenda. Following the election of incumbent Jay Shah as the independent chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the board is yet to decide on who will replace him at the top post.

According to the report, the BCCI will conduct a Special General Meeting (SGM) to elect the new secretary before Shah takes the post of ICC chairman on December 1. No timeline has been fixed for the SGM.

The two-page, 18-point agenda includes the usual topic of discussion at the AGM, including the appointment of a representative to the ICC. As Shah will no longer be eligible to represent the BCCI at the global body, a new face will be appointed as the representative.

The Board will pick a candidate who is familiar with the goings-on in the ICC meetings.

Jay Shah wishes good luck to the Duleep Trophy participants

Meanwhile, incumbent secretary Shah, on Wednesday, wished luck to all the participating players in the Duleep Trophy, which kicked off India’s domestic 2024-25 season on September 5 (today). With selectors keeping track of the performance of both established and young players, the tournament promises to be an essential platform for the preparation for Team India’s upcoming red-ball season, starting with the 2-match Test series with Bangaldesh on September 19 in Chennai.

Several A-listers such as Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Sherays Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad are participating in the Duleep Trophy.

One of the agendas at the AGM will be the appointment of a board representative to the International Cricket Council (ICC).  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
