Cyber attacks mounted on Nimisha Sajayan after Suresh Gopis victory in Thrissur

Ernakulam: The troll war that began after BJP opened its account in Kerala with actor-MP Suresh Gopi winning Thrissur constituency is yet to descend with a large section of right-wing members targeting south actress Nimisha Sajayan for a statement she made in 2019 during the anti-CAA protests. The actress had then made an indirect reference against Suresh Gopi stating that the not just the people of Thrissur, but the people of the country

Following the cyber-attack, the actor has turned-off the comment section.

During the protest back then, Nimisha Sajayan had said, “We didn’t give Thrissur to them when they have asked, and it is to us they are asking India. We won’t give it” (sic). The actor was trolled and had also received support from various quarters.

Nimisha was referring to Suresh Gopi’s well-known catchphrase, “Thrissur enikku venam, Thrissur enikku tharanam, Thrissur nhaan angu edukkuva” (I want Thrissur, you need to give me Thrissur, I am taking Thrissur).

As of today, with Suresh Gopi winning from Thrissur in a BJP candidate, a first-of-its-kind, the cyber activists associated with the party has dug up the old video and has begun trolling the actor with various memes and videos. Nimisha Sajayan has not commented on the trolls yet.

Trolls and memes are not just confined towards the actress, but also on Suresh Gopi by the left-wing handlers. Most of these trolls are targeted towards Thrissur which is been referred to as a ‘saffron den’ now and hence requesting others not to visit the place.

Social media trolls are not just confined towards BJP or Suresh Gopi, but also towards CPI(M) and its candidates who have lost to the Congress.

“It is common after elections that cadres and party sympathizers make comments mocking opposition leaders. But these days the comments have become more insensitive and personal where some of them are derogatory in nature. This has to be taken note by the cyber officials and the authorities and stringent action has to be taken as per the law”, said Deepak, a social media activist and IT professional.

Meanwhile, artists, sportspersons and people from various avenues was seen wishing Suresh Gopi over his victory in Thrissur constituency.
