‘Everyone wants to make a difference’: Rohit Sharma says Team India is ready for Super 8 challenge

New Delhi: Team India will start their Super 8 campaign on June 20 against Afghanistan. The players have already reached in Barbados and started preparing for the next match.

In a video uploaded by BCCI, Rohit Sharma said that the team is ready to do something special and everyone wants to make a difference. He also said that the team takes every skill session seriously and there is something to achieve in every session. The Indian captain also talked about India’s Super 8 schedule and said that it is going to be a little hectic but the team is used to this.

“Once we play the first game, we are going to play the next two in 3-4 days. It is going to be a little hectic but we are used to all of this. We travel and play a lot so that is not going to be an excuse”. Rohit said in a BCCI video

Team India played three group-stage matches at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York and remained undefeated in the group stage. The Men in Blue defeated Ireland by 8 wickets in their first match. After that, they defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 6 runs in a low-scoring thriller. Rohit Sharma & Co. defeated the USA by 7 wickets while their last match against Canada was washed out.

The Indian captain said that they will look to focus on their skill and they have played a lot of games in West Indies and understand what they need to do “We will look to focus on our skill and what we need to do as a team. We have played a lot of games here. Everyone understands what they need to do. Everyone is looking forward and are excited at the same time”.

India’s fixtures in Super 8

Team India will face Afghanistan in their opening match of the Super 8 on June 20 at Kensington Oval in Barbados. After that, the Men in Blue will square off against Bangladesh at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. Rohit Sharma and Co. will take on Australia at Daren Sammy National Stadium in St. Lucia on June 24.
