New Delhi: Former Pakistan legend Shoaib Akhter has backed India to outplay South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final clash on Saturday. It will be a battle of the toughest between the two undefeated side as India would be aiming to break the jinx and South Africa would aim for a historic first.
Both the semifinal clashes turned out to be almost the same as both Men in Blue and the Proteas devasted their opponents, England and Afghanistan respectively to storm into the ultimate clash. Meanwhile, Akhter warned the Proteas to beware of the threatening Indian team which looks on course for their second T20 World Cup titles. Bowlers, especially the spinners shined for the side in the semifinal clash and they come up as a threat for the Proteas.
South Africa will be scared
“Anyway, I think India deserves it and many congratulations to India. This is what I have been saying for the longest period of time that they should have won the last two World Cups, and they should win this one as well. If South Africa win the toss, they should look to bat first. Then you still have a slight margin or else, they are playing their very first final, but after this performance, even South Africa will be scared. Who will score runs in front of these spinners? India should definitely win this one, Shoaib said in a video posted on YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, India have been classical throughout the tournament in all the three departments. When batters have proved to be little off the track, bowlers have stepped in and proved their might exceptional. Saturday will only decide whether India are able to break their 10-year-old jinx or the Proteas enjoy a historic first.
