Goosebumps guaranteed! Virat Kohli orchestrates Team India singing ‘Vande Mataram’ at Wankhede

New Delhi: Receiving a grand reception after arriving with the coveted T20 World Cup trophy from Barbados on Thursday, the champion Indian cricket team snatched all the spotlight in what was a hectic and tight day for them from morning till the very night. The day was concluded with the complete pack of Indian players singing the highly patriotic “Vande Mataram” at the jampacked Wankhede Stadium, the venue where the felicitation ceremony for the champions was held.

The song, sung and composed by the legendary AR Rahman, is one of the very few songs that the whole of India sing along in pride and respect for the nation. The Men in Blue, having bagged the T20 World Cup trophy, had all the reasons to sing it at the top of their lungs while taking a lap of honour at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

The pack, led by star batter Virat Kohli with Hardik Pandya alongside, looked at their very best as they engaged the crowd into singing the popular song that is capable of igniting patriotism in every single Indian in no time. Well… so was the case with the entire Indian outfit with Kohli and Pandya taking centerstage and giving a brilliant performance of the song.

No rest but all worth it

It is highly noteworthy that the goosebumps-inducing moment was created by the players who had a packed schedule for Thursday having landed from Barbados after a non-stop 16-hour flight to Delhi. The players straight went to the hotel to freshen up and get ready for the scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence at 11 am.

After the meeting, they headed back to the airport to fly to Mumbai for the events arranged for them for the further course of the day. A victory parade was announced by the BCCI secretary Jay Shah scheduled at Marine Drive in Mumbai as the Indian players reached Mumbai a bit late, leaving thousands of fans waiting for them at the famous spot.

It was an open bus road show that started from Nariman Point after almost two hours of delay and ended at the Wankhede Stadium where the felicitation ceremony was held. The Indian players were handed a cheque of Rs 125 crore by the BCCI for their giant leap of faith and the players took a victory lap to end their day and make the day for the crazy Mumbai crowd that thronged the streets in thousand and packed the stands at the Wankhede.

After the felicitation ceremony, T20 World Cup champions Team India took a lap of honour at the Wankhede Stadium and sang the iconic “Vande Mataram” with the crowd to make the trophy a memorabilia of a lifetime.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
