Rain lashed Hyderabad on Thursday afternoon in several parts of the city including Banjara Hills, Khairatabad, Ameerpet, Jubilee Hills, Madhapur, Serilingampally leading to water logging in many areas.
Disaster Response Force (DRF) officials were seen clearing stagnant water and fallen trees at many places.
Heavy down pour was also seen in Nizamabad, Jagtial, Siricilla, Kamareddy, Medak, Siddipet, Sangreddy districts of Telangana. Thunderstorms were observed in Bhongir, Vikarabad, Medchal, Jangaon districts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a post on social media platform X, “Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, most parts of Karnataka; some more parts of Maharashtra, Telangana & Coastal Andhra Pradesh; most parts of Westcentral Bay of Bengal and some more parts of Northwest Bay of Bengal.”
Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Vikarabad, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet districts. Thunderstorms with rain accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) is very likely to occur in all districts of Telangana. Similar conditions are expected to prevail over the next few days over several districts, as per IMD forecast.
Hyderabad also saw heavy rain of 90 mm in some parts of the city on Thursday and water logging was also reported in many parts of the city. Videos showed vehicles moving through floodwaters.
