New Delhi: The ICC Champions Trophy final is around the corner with India and New Zealand are all set to have one last fight to lift the championship in Dubai. The two teams will end the wait for a new champion after Pakistan last won the tournament in 2017.
This is the fifth time when India and New Zealand will meet in a ICC knockout match after their previous encounters in the 2000 Champions Trophy final in Nairobi, 2019 World Cup semifinal in Manchester, 2021 ICC World Test Championship final in Southampton, 2023 World Cup semifinal in Mumbai. New Zealand has the edge over India with a 3-1 scoreline.
This will also be the second time the two teams will face each other in the Champions Trophy final after Stephen Fleming’s men got the better of Sourav Ganguly & Co in 2000.
Earlier in the current edition of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, India defeated New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium in the group stage match by 44 runs to top the Group A charts. The two teams will once again play to embrace the glory at the same venue.

India and New Zealand have played each other in 119 One-Day International matches since 1975. The Men in Blue have won 61 of those contests in comparison to the Black Caps winning 50 matches. Only one match was tied with seven others abandoned without any result.

India won all three of their Group A matches to qualify for the semifinals before defeating Australia to knock them out of the tournament. Meanwhile, New Zealand won against Pakistan and Bangladesh convincingly but lost to India. The Mitchell Santner-led team beat South Africa in the semifinal by 50 runs to set up another clash with India. A sweet revenge will be on the cards for New Zealand and India will aim to add another ICC title in a space of nine months after winning the T20 World Cup.
