New Delhi: Manchester United striker Amad Diallo has sustained an ankle injury in training, potentially sidelining him for the remainder of the season, a significant blow ahead of United’s weekend trip to Tottenham Hotspur. Earlier in the week, manager Ruben Amorim addressed the growing injury list but refrained from naming specific players. It was later revealed that Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Toby Collyer were among those affected.

The situation worsened for Manchester United as Diallo confirmed the news on his social media. While the 22-year-old stopped short of declaring his season over, he acknowledged facing “some time” on the sidelines.

The impact of Diallo’s injury on Manchester United

In a turbulent season for the Red Devils, Amad Diallo has been a bright spot. He has contributed six goals and six assists, a total of 12 goal contributions to the club’s meagre overall tally of 28. The earlier loan departure of Rashford and Antony to Real Betis had already thinned United’s attacking options, leaving them with just four forwards.

United officials were already facing criticism for their lack of attacking reinforcements during the January transfer window, especially after allowing both Marcus Rashford and Antony to leave. Now, with Diallo’s injury, the pressure has intensified significantly.

United are now desperately short of attacking players. Four injuries in a single week raise serious concerns, and the team may now be forced to utilize striker Joshua Zirkzee in a deeper role to support Rasmus Hojlund. As mentioned, reports indicate that midfielders Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Toby Collyer have also sustained injuries.

Manchester United’s mounting injury crisis

The injury woes don’t stop there. Lisandro Martinez recently joined the long-term injury list, ruled out for the rest of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Amorim also indicated that Luke Shaw, Jonny Evans, Mason Mount, and Altay Bayindir would remain unavailable for the upcoming fixture. This spate of injuries has led to 17-year-old Chido Oni being promoted to first-team training.

While Manchester United have little to play for in the Premier League, currently sitting 13th in the table, their focus has shifted to the FA Cup and Europa League. However, these ambitions have been dealt a severe blow with the loss of the Ivorian international.

Another blow for Manchester United as Amad Diallo’s ankle injury leaves his season in doubt, compounding United’s woes as they struggle with a lengthy list of absentees.   Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
