New Delhi: PM Jan Arogya Yojana for free healthcare to eligible citizens and senior citizens has notched up a new record. In response to a question in Parliament during the ongoing Winter Session, Union minister of state for health Prataprao Jadhav shared that 14 lakh Vay VAndana PMJAY cards had been issued by the Centre as of November 25,2024 . Overall, 4.5 lakh families have benefited from the PMJAY scheme so far, he added.

What are PMJAY Vay Vandana cards
PM Jay Vay Vandana cards are issued to Indian citizens aged 70 years and above. This provision was announced earlier this year by the Centre to ensure tension-free health coverage to senior and super-senior citizens. Facilities offered under PMJAY include:

The estimated expenditure under PMJAY is of Rs 3,437 crore, of which the Centre is likely to incur a cost of nearly Rs 2,165 crore in FY25 and FY26. PMJAY has 29,870 empanelled hospitals of which 13,173 are private hospitals, according to the minister.

Under Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana, beneficiaries can avail of cashless healthcare services. These cover 1961 procedures spread across 27 medical specialties, according to minister’s Jadhav’s written response to a question in the Lok Sabha on Friday.
