Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Chennai on the 20th of June to inaugurate the Vande Bharat train service from Egmore railway station to Nagercoil. “PM Modi will inaugurate various railway-related projects including the Vande Bharat train service between Chennai-Nagercoil and Central Government projects at Chennai-Egmore railway station, according to sources. This will be Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first visit to the southern state after recently assuming office for the third time.
Meanwhile, the Greater Chennai Police has started preparations regarding the security arrangements for PM Modi’s visit to Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin is expected to participate in the function where Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate various state railway projects.
Tamil Nadu has six Vande Bharat train services
Vande Bharat Express train services are already running on 6 routes in Tamil Nadu. This includes Chennai-Coimbatore, Chennai-Tirunelveli, Chennai-Mysuru, Coimbatore-Bengaluru, and Chennai-Vijayawada routes.
Also, a weekly Vande Bharat train service is operated between Chennai Egmore – Nagercoil. However, the passengers continued to demand that the Vande Bharat train operated between Chennai and Egmore-Nagarcoil should be operated as a daily train service. After this, the Southern Railway Administration made a recommendation to the Railway Board. Based on the recommendation, the Railway Board has permitted the operation of a daily Vande Bharat train service between Egmore – and Nagercoil.
