PM Narendra Modi meets India’s Chess Olympiad heroes at his residence – WATCH

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the members of the victorious Indian men’s and women’s chess teams at his residence in New Delhi on September 25, Wednesday. India, on Sunday, scripted history by becoming only the third nation to win two gold medals at a single edition of the Chess Olympiad. Following the historic win in Budapest, Hungary, Indian chess players recieved praise from all quarters with PM Modi also congratulating the superstars of Indian chess for the historic feat.

Now three days after scripting history in the Hungarian capital, the victorious chess teams met with PM Modi at his residence.

Vidit Gujrathi, a key member of the winning team, even gave up the chance to defend his title at the 10th Vugar Gashimov Memorial Chess Super Tournament in Azerbaijan for an audience with PM Modi.

Ahead of the much-awaited meeting with the Prime Minister, a video of the Chess Olympiad 2024 gold medallists heading to the PM House went viral.

India’s heroes of the victory in the men’s D Gukesh, Arjun Erigaise, R Praggnanandhaa, Vidit Gujrathi and Harikrishna Pentala

The women’s team comprised Harika Dronavalli, Vaishali Rameshbabu, Divya Deshmukh, Vantika Agrawal, and Tania Sachdev.

Gukesh, Erigaisi, Deshmukh and Agrawal claimed individual gold medals on their respective boards.
