New Delhi: Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is enjoying a purple patch in his career currently and it seems like the striker just can’t stop scoring. Newcastle United are playing away to newcomers Ipswich Town and the game seems to already be over before the full-time whistle at the Portman road. The Magpies currently hold a commanding 4-0 lead over the Tractor Boys and Isak has played a huge part in the same.
The Swede opened the scoring for his side, 25 seconds into the game and giving his side the lead. He scored the second fastest goal of the season which gave a platform for Newcastle to build on. The Toons would double their lead just after the half an hour mark before Isak once again got on the score sheet in added time of the first half, before sealing his hattrick in the second half. His goals tonight made sure that he is now amongst the best attackers of the calendar year.

Isak joins Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer as the only three Premier League players to have scored more than 20 league goals in 2024. He sits just behind Haaland and Palmer, who have 26 and 25 goals respectively, while Isak took his tally up to 22 with his goals against Ipswich Town. Despite starting the season slowly, with only one goal in his first six appearances, he now seems to be back to his best.

While his start to the season was poor, Isak has been in tremendous touch ever since coming back from a toe injury that he suffered in the defeat to Fulham. The injury forced the Swede to miss two games and since his return, he seems to back at the level he was in the previous season. Since the game against Chelsea late in October, Isak has scored nine goals in just eight games for the club, including the game against Ipswich.
Additionally, the striker has even gotten three assists in this while, grabbing a goal and an assist in the same game on three separate occasions. He was instrumental in Newcastle’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool, which was only the second time this season that the Reds dropped points at the time and even helped his side overcome an in-form Nottingham Forest away from home. With 10 goals in the league already, he’s slowly climbing up in the golden boot race with and is only three behind joint-leaders Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah.
