The opening Test of the five-match series begins on November 22 in Perth and with the birth of the second child, Rohit might travel to Australia in time to play the first Test.

Rohit, the Indian skipper, didn’t travel with the team Down Under as Ritika was expecting their second child. However, the good news of the baby boy’s birth has brightened his chances to reach Perth and be available to lead the team against the Aussies in the series opener.

Earlier, reports claimed that Rohit would miss the opening match in Perth as there was a possibility of the birth of his second child clashing with the tour opener of the BGT 2024-25.

Big boost for India

With the birth of his second child, the chances of Rohit playing the first Test against Australia have increased. Despite not being in the best of forms, Rohit’s presence will boost the Indian team. In case he misses the opening Test, KL Rahul or Abhimanyu Easwaran are the two possible candidates to open the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. Head coach Gautam Gambhir had earlier hinted that Rahul might pip Easwaran for the opening spot due to his experience.
