Video: Man thrashes cop in uniform in Tirupati, arrested

Tirupati: A head constable was attacked and thrashed by a man who reportedly has episodes of violence when confronted by police uniforms. The incident took place in Sadhupeta centre, Gudur town of Tirupati district.

The head constable identified as Swamy Das of Gudur Rural Police Station, parked his motorcycle and entered a local tea shop, when the man struck from behind with a stick and injured the cop, CCTV footage showed.

 

The man named Lalthu Kalindi, 24, from West Bengal, dealt a blow to the back of the head constable’s head, causing him to collapse to the floor. After the attack, an accompanying constable and bystanders at the shop immediately detained the assailant and could be seen taking the stick away from his hands.

The injured cop was taken to the Gudur area Hospital and then was later shifted to Tirupati for advanced medical treatment. The accused was taken to Gudur 1-town police station.

The investigation revealed that the person has ‘psychotic epsiodes’ when he sees police in uniform. A case was registered and investigation is on.
