New Delhi: Mumbai cricketer Musheer Khan on Sunday made a public appearance, informing everyone of his good health after being involved in a car accident with his father Naushad Khan on the outskirts of Lucknow on Saturday. He said that he is doing fine after getting a new life and is expected to be out of action for at least three months due to a neck fracture that he sustained in the accident.
This effectively rules the 19-year-old out of Mumbai’s matches at the beginning of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season which begins on October 11. Musheer is a budding Indian cricket talent and has already made a name for himself with his exploits in the ICC U19 World Cup 2024 and the recently concluded Duleep Trophy. The all-round skills that he boasts are worthy of making his way clear into the India senior men’s cricket team.
After the road accident, many of his fans and close friends were worried about his health condition and on Sunday, he finally made his first public statement. Taking to his Instagram account, he posted a video in which he was seen alongside his father.
“First of all I want to thank almighty Allah for granting me a new life. I’m fine as of now, and abbu (father) was with me, and he’s fine too. I just want to thank all of you for your blessings,” Musheer said.

It is learnt that Musheer was travelling to Lucknow from his hometown Azamgarh for the Irani Cup which begins on October 1. He had the company of his father Naushad Khan, who also suffered minor scratches in the road accident that occurred on the Purvanchal Expressway after his car hit a divider and overturned. Musheer had scored a brave hundred recently at the Duleep Trophy. He is the younger brother of India cricketer Sarfaraz Khan who is currently with the Indian cricket team in Kanpur for the 2nd Bangladesh Test.
Musheer’s father after the accident
Musheer’s father, Naushad Khan, who has been his coach since his childhood almost accompanies him for every tournament. He was there with him during the Duleep Trophy games and was to be at the Irani Cup as well. “First of all, I thank god for granting us this new life, and thank all the people who prayed for us, all our well-wishers, fans, our relatives,” Naushad said.
“I also want to thank the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and the BCCI who are taking full care of Musheer, and they will give you whatever updates there are in the future. I just want to say, one needs to persevere to get what one couldn’t, and to be grateful for what one has got. This is life,” he added.
