New Delhi: The Men in Blue are ready for the busy Test season which starts with a two-match Test series against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 19. India have not lost any Test series at home since 2012 and will look to continue their dominance against Bangladesh.
While the visitors are heading into the Test series on the back of a 2-0 win against Pakistan. The Bangla Tigers never won a Test match against Pakistan but they scripted history in September by performing brilliantly in all three departments.
Their spinners troubled Pakistani batters and their fast bowlers also delivered a great performance. Najmul and Co. started training at home for the India series a week ago and also had a couple of training sessions in Chennai. Bangladesh have lost all three Test matches they have played in India so far, but the visitors will be high on confidence for the upcoming two-match series.
‘We don’t fear anyone and respect everyone’: Gautam Gambhir
Ahead of the Test series, India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir said that Team India respects everyone and doesn’t take any opposition lightly. He further added that they will look to play their brand of cricket and will not look at the opposition.
“I have always believed that we don’t fear anyone, but we respect everyone. It’s the same with Bangladesh. We don’t take any opposition lightly. We are going to go out there and play the brand of cricket that we want to play because that is what champions do. They don’t look at the opposition,” Gambhir told the press in Chennai.
He also congratulated Bangladesh for their recent success against Pakistan and said that they try to control the game and have done well against Pakistan but it’s a new series and a new opposition for them as well.
“They try to control the game, they try to play the way they want to play the game. So, congratulations Bangladesh for what they’ve done against Pakistan. But it’s a new start, it’s a new series, it’s a new opposition as well for them,” he added.
