In shocking cases of sexual assault, two women were raped in two different incidents in the city.
A young Dalit software professional was gang raped by her so-called ‘childhood friend’ and another common friend in a hotel in Hyderabad.
The woman bagged a new job and wanted to celebrate it with her ‘childhood friend’ Gautam Reddy and the common friend. She joined them at a bar in Vanasthalipuram on Monday night.
Vanasthalipuram Inspector Jalender Reddy said that they went to a bar attached to restaurant and hotel. After they got drunk, they took her to a room in the hotel and gang-raped her. Gautam Reddy and the woman studied together from class 2 to class 10.
Vanasthalipuram Police arrested Gautam Reddy and booked him under SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and are searching for the remaining accused. A case has been registered under BNS 70(1).
Woman raped in a moving bus in Hyderabad:
In another shocking incident, a woman was raped on a moving bus by a driver while traveling from Nirmal district in Telangana to Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh on Monday night.
The accused named Krishna, an employee of Harikrishna travels, was a spare driver of the bus and is a native of Nellore district.
The victim boarded the bus with her daughter near Nirmal and the incident occurred at around midnight. The driver reportedly gagged her from behind and raped her.
Shortly after, the woman called 100 and complained that she was raped on the moving bus. The bus was intercepted at Tarnaka junction near Osmania University police station limits, OU City Inspector Rajender told Tv9 telugu.
The bus driver slowed the vehicle near Mettuguda and the accused escaped before it reached Tarnaka junction, the inspector stated.
“The police chased and caught the bus when it reached Osmania University. Driver Krishna is absconding. Search operations are underway.
Another driver, Siddaiah, who helped Krishna escape, is being interrogated by the police. A case of rape has been registered against both the drivers. We have registered a case under BNS Act 65,” Inspector Rajender said.
