Chennai: No more footboard travel in city buses as MTC fixes doors

Chennai: In yet another measure to curb people especially students travelling on footboard, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Chennai) Ltd, (MTC) has started fixing doors in buses. Ahead of school reopening MTC will fix automatic doors in 468 buses that run on crucial routes collecting educational institutions like 23C and 29. With this the number of buses with automatic doors will go to 2,000 in Chennai and all new buses will come with doors.

MTC Chennai is taking various measures for commuter safety.

Similarly, MTC introduced Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETMs) in all the 32 MTC depots in the city from today.
