A 23-year-old student named Nitheesha Kandula, who is a student at California State University (San Bernadino) CSUSB, went missing on May 28, reports said.
Kandula, who is originally from Hyderabad, went to Los Angeles, to pursue higher education. She was last seen in Los Angeles, CA and went missing on May 28, Chief of Police John Guttierez said in a post on social media platform X.
“MissingPersonAlert: California State University, San Bernardino Police along with our partners in LAPD, is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of @CSUSBNews Nitheesha Kandula, to contact at: (909) 537-5165,” the post read.
A circular attached with the post described Kandula as a 5 feet 6 inches tall and 72.5 kgs in weight with black hair and black eyes.
“On Thursday May 30, Nitheesha Kandula (7/23/2000) was reported missing to the LAPD Southwest Division. If any agency has information on whereabouts of the missing person, please contact LA Southwest Division 213-485-2582,” it further read.
Missing Indian students in recent times:
This worrying incident comes after a host of Indian students, especially Telugu students either went missing or were found dead in recent times.
Rupesh Chandra Chintakind, a student from Telangana, went missing in Chicago last month.
In April, a student named Mohammad Abdul Arfath missing since March, was found dead in Cleveland, Ohio.
In March, a classical dancer named Amarnath Ghosh was shot dead in St Louis, Missouri.
In February, a 23-year-old named Sameer Kamath, student at Purdue University, was found dead at a nature preserve in Indiana.
In February, a 41-year-old tech executive, Indian American Vivek Taneja was assaulted and was found dead outside a restaurant in Washington.
In 2023, a student named Jahnavi Kandula was killed by a speeding police patrol car in Los Angeles.
