Hyderabad: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy on his 75th birth anniversary and remembered his contributions, welfare programs.
In a video posted on his Twitter (X) account, Rahul Gandhi said that the former CM was a ‘true leader of the masses’ and one who lived for the people of Andhra Pradesh. “If he was here today, AP would be a completely different place and it would not be facing the difficulties it is facing. I am confident his daughter Sharmila ji will take his legacy forward.”
He also said that his Bharat Jodo Yatra was inspired from Rajasekhar Reddy’s yatra across Andhra Pradesh. “I remember seeing the visuals of him walking through the heat, walking through the rain and walking with the people of Andhra Pradesh. We took some of those ideas and merged them with Bharat Jodo Yatra.”
Andhra Pradesh Congress and YS Sharmila initiated many programs to expand the party in Andhra Pradesh. Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Telangana states will attend a special program organized in Mangalagiri to celebrate his birth anniversary on Monday, July 8.
YSRCP chief and YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s son YS Jagan Reddy paid tributes to his father at Idupulapaya.
In a tweet, he said, “Dad, Your 75th birthday is a festive day for all of us. Millions of families are remembering you today. YSR Congress workers, leaders and fans are going ahead in service activities on your birthday. The path you have shown for the welfare of the people is our mainstay. The goal is the achievement of your dreams, the welfare of crores of families is the goal. our efforts till the end.”
